I was at Parkson, One Utama when I met this uncle who was commenting on this "No Plastic Bag" policy every Saturdays. He was totally against it.
He said,
"Lepas ni jangan keluar dah hari Sabtu"
And added,
"Tak payah undi Khalid, undi Khir Toyo. Tapi Toyo tu lagi celaka.. "
The cashier asked him to place the 20 cents inside a box to pay for the plastic he asked for. The money will go to charity. But he said, "Buat apa bagi 20 sen kat kerajaan Selangor ni?"
I couldn't help but told him to bring his own bag next time. But he arrogantly said, "Perempuan takpe lah bawak beg, lelaki takkan nak bawak beg macam tu!"
I explained that he could've just brought along plastic bag but he ignored me and said to the cashier, "Hah! Ni paperbag semua ni pun kamu kena paksa buat sendiri kan?" WTF!
The worst part is... He just bought a small air freshener. He didn't need a bag!
Argh. Please la. Janganla jadi bodoh. Sampah bukannya boleh magically disappear once you threw it away. I'm always pissed when I shop at Carrefour or Giant where their cashiers love to give me A LOT of plastic bags. Since they don't have smaller bags, they separate everything unnecessarily. But maybe that is what they're being told to do. Ntahlah.
I'm not the ultimate eco-friendly mom, I admit that I never used cloth diapers. But at least I do what I can do to help, even if it is the smallest thing.
Do you?
